Taiji Wrestling 2: Taiji Shuai Jiao
Parallel Pushing Hands
Wrestling, or Shuai Jiao, is one of the oldest forms of Chinese martial arts which developed into a complete system within itself over thousands of years. However, Shuai Jiao is also one of the four main categories of all Chinese martial arts, including Taijiquan (the other categories being Punching, Kicking and Chin Na).
Taiji Shuai Jiao teaches the skills of destroying an opponent’s root and balance, and consequently throwing him down. Often these techniques are mixed with the leg’s sweeping or tripping, and the body’s swinging or throwing techniques.
This video focuses on applying Shuai Jiao techniques found in Parallel Pushing Hands, in which opponents face each other with opposite hands: right hand to left hand, and left hand to right hand.
